tips for staying healthy this christmas

I know that we will all be enjoying our christmas day with good food and good company.  but enjoying good food does not mean you need to sabotage your intentions to eat clean.


here are some of my tips to help keep you on track and some easy ways to cut calories this festive season:
  • embrace the special foods of christmas and summer holidays and ditch the food guilt.  lighten up with a selection of seasonal produce by filling up your plate with a little extra salad, fresh seafood and summer's best fruits that nature has to offer.
  • say no to soft drinks, fruit juices, shakes and smoothies and sugary, syrup types of alcohol.  (that includes beer and wine, try to have things like gin or vodka with soda water if you need to have a drink)
  • feel satisfied and not stuffed like a turkey.  listen to your hunger cues and know when enough is enough.
  • savour every mouthful, sip slowly and enjoy the conversation.
  • be mindful of the pre-lunch nibbles and enjoy just enough to take the edge off your appetite.
most of all, enjoy yourselves and make sure that you stay safe.
